Atlantic Way Explorer is the creation of ecologist  Marie Louise Heffernan who was determined to find a way to share the joy of exploring the Wild Atlantic Way. Having spent years working on the west coast of Ireland doing surveys of habitats and species she has a great knowledge of the whole route. She views it from an ecological wilderness perspective and has created the app with the Galway company App Design with a view to bringing you all the highlights and hidden gems along the way.

Marie Louise has dedicated her career to conservation and wilderness protection and  thrives on her passion for ecology and sharing her love of nature. Her determination to turn thoughts into action has contributed to her co-establishing Connemara Green, leading wind and solar projects, ensuring sustainable development through Aster Environmental Consultants and most recently producing this travel app Atlantic Way Explorer with ecology at its core.

Marie Louise believes that in order to protect nature we must first know it. Atlantic Way Explorer app is a way to connect with that wilderness along the Wild Atlantic Way route. She farms with her husband in Connemara and has 3 children, 3 dogs, 3 chickens and 100 sheep.
